Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding: An 18-Hour Interdisciplinary Breastfeeding Management Course for the United States Editors: Karin Cadwell, PhD, RN, IBCLC & Cynthia Turner-Maffei, MA, IBCLC Karin Cadwell, PhD, RN, IBCLC is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker, researcher and educator and faculty member of the Healthy Children 2000 Project, Inc. She convened Baby-Friendly USA, implementing the UNICEF Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative in the US, was a visiting professor and program chair of the Health Communications Department of Emerson College, is a member of the US Breastfeeding Committee, is a member of the Board of Directors of Healthy Mothers/ Healthy Babies and Chair of the National Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Breastfeeding Committee, and has led the Eisenhower Foundation annual international PTP delegation on breastfeeding and human lactation exchanges to other nations. She is the author of numerous books and articles, was awarded the designation IBCLC in 1985 for "significant contribution to the field" and has since recertified by exam. Cindy Turner-Maffei, MA, IBCLC is national coordinator of Baby-Friendly USA and a faculty member of Healthy Children 2000 Project. She has extensive experience as a nutritionist and breastfeeding educator in WIC and other Maternal Child Health programs. A member of breastfeeding coalitions on the local, state and national level, including the Massachusetts Breastfeeding Committee (Treasurer) and the US Breastfeeding Committee (former Membership Chair), she is also an author and editor of The Curriculum to Support the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and Toward Evidence-Based Breastfeeding Practice.
